I only spent one day in Osaka, but it was enough time — a city of contrasts, colour, and endless energy. From the calm of Osaka Castle, surrounded by green gardens and moats, to the bright chaos of Dotonbori street food and the busy Shinsaibashisuji shopping street, the city felt alive in every corner. At one of the temples, I came across hundreds of colourful strips fluttering in the wind — each carrying a wish or prayer written by visitors. These small messages, known as omikuji or tanzaku, are tied to bring good fortune or to let bad luck be carried away by nature. Watching them move gently in the breeze felt both hopeful and peaceful. And of course, Osaka’s famous dish — okonomiyaki! A savoury Japanese pancake made with cabbage, batter, and your choice of toppings like pork, seafood, or cheese, cooked right in front of you on a hot plate. The photo wasn’t taken with my Fuji, but it had to be part of this journal — because tasting it was a highlight of the day for me!
